The Busch School of Business' HR Speaker Series is proud to partner with the Catholic Benefits Association and present, "Protected for Purpose: How Catholic Employers Align Benefits, HR, and Governance with their Mission."
The second session of this two-part series is on November 4, 2026. Mary Beth Barry will give a presentation entitled, "Aligning People and Mission: Strengthening Religious Identity Through HR Architecture."
By the end of this session, participants will:
• Understand why religious employers should intentionally integrate their religious identity throughout their HR architecture (and why a mission statement alone is not enough).
• Recognize where religious identity and mission should be visible throughout the employee lifecycle, from recruiting and hiring through onboarding, policies, performance management, discipline, and separation.
• Identify practical ways to strengthen HR practices so they consistently reflect and reinforce the organization’s religious mission.
Speaker Bio:
Mary Beth Barry is the director of Human Resources Consultative Services for the Catholic Benefits Association, where she helps member organizations strengthen their HR practices while supporting and advancing their Catholic mission.
She has more than 20 years of human resources experience, including 10 years in HR leadership roles with a large faith-based healthcare system. Mary Beth provides practical guidance to religious employers on integrating their mission and values throughout the employee experience, from hiring and onboarding to performance management, employee relations, and workplace policies.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She and her family live in Parker, CO.
